STUDENT ORGANIZATION FUNDING OPTIONS

A brief description of each funding option available to student organizations is listed below with the corresponding guidelines and application.

Student organizations can apply now for events/travel/publications taking place anytime on or after May 4th, 2012! CLICK HERE for the 2011-2012 complete timeline.

BEFORE COMPLETING ANY GRANT APPLICATION make sure your student organization is familiar with the relevant section of the Student Government Association's FINANCIAL PROCEDURES ACT (FPA) (click on each to access):

OPERATIONAL FUNDING (*Will re-open August 6th, 2012)
*Be sure to review corresponding section of the FPA above before applying. Student organizations can apply for operational funds to assist with the necessary day-to-day operational needs of the group and its recruitment of new members. Groups may request no more than $50/week beginning 10 business days before the first day of classes during the Fall and Spring Semesters, and will close after 10 weeks of being available. No group may receive more than $250/semester of operational funds. No hearing is needed. Funds are requested by consulting the SGA Administrative Assistant at (704) 687-7166.

ON-CAMPUS EVENT GRANT (CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION)
*Be sure to review corresponding section of the FPA above before applying.   Student organizations can apply for this grant to support the programming needs of registered groups on-campus. The maximum award is $3,000 per event. A hearing before the Ways and Means Committee of the Student Government Association is required.

After you have completed your on-campus event grant application, please turn a hard copy in to the front desk of Student Government and Organizations Complex on the second floor of the Student Union. (Electronic copies will not be accpeted.) On-campus event grants cannot exceed $3,000. On-campus event grant applications must be turned in by Friday by Noon in order to be considered for an on-campus event grant hearing the following week.

When you turn in the application, you will have to schedule an on-campus event grant hearing. On-campus event grant hearings are held every Tuesday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. in the Student Union, Room 212Z.

OFF-CAMPUS EVENT GRANT (CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION)
*Be sure to review corresponding section of the FPA above before applying.  Student organizations can apply for this grant to support the programming needs of registered groups off-campus and in the greater Charlotte metropolitan area. The maximum award is $700 per event. A hearing before the Ways and Means Committee of the Student Government Association is required.

After you have completed your off-campus event grant application, please turn a hard copy in to the front desk of Student Government and Organizations Complex on the second floor of the Student Union. (Electronic copies will not be accpeted.) Off-campus event grants cannot exceed $700. Off-campus event grant applications must be turned in by Friday by Noon in order to be considered for an off-campus event grant hearing the following week.

When you turn in the application, you will have to schedule an off-campus event grant hearing. Off-campus event grant hearings are held every Tuesday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. in the Student Union, Room 212Z.

CO-SPONSORED EVENT GRANT (CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION)
*Be sure to review corresponding section of the FPA above before applying.  Student organizations can apply for this grant to support the programming needs of groups wishing to co-sponsor events together. The maximum award is $3,000 per event for the primary application, and $500 for each additional group, up to three groups, to be used towards the honorarium line item only. (A minimum of $3,000 must be used for the honorarium.) A hearing before the Ways and Means Committee of the Student Government Association is required.

After you have completed your co-sponsored event grant application, please turn a hard copy in to the front desk of Student Government and Organizations Complex on the second floor of the Student Union. (Electronic copies will not be accpeted.) Co-sponsored event grants cannot exceed $4,500. Co-sponsored event grant applications must be turned in by Friday by Noon in order to be considered for an event grant hearing the following week.

When you turn in the application, you will have to schedule a co-sponsored event grant hearing. Co-sponsored event grant hearings are held every Tuesday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. in the Student Union, Room 212Z.

TRAVEL GRANT (CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION)
*Be sure to review corresponding section of the FPA above before applying.  Student organizations can apply for this grant to travel to conferences, trainings, competitions, and other off-campus events the group is attending (not hosting). The maximum award is $1,000 per student organization per academic year, for a maximum of $500/student, $750/two students, and three students for up to the max of $1000, per grant. A hearing before the Ways and Means Committee of the Student Government Association is required.

After you have completed your travel grant application, please turn a hard copy in to the front desk of the Student Government and Organizations Complex on the second floor of the Student Union. (Electronic copies will not be accpeted.) Travel grants cannot exceed $1,000.00. Travel grant applications must be turned in by Friday by Noon in order to be considered for an event grant hearing the following week.

When you turn in the application, you will have to schedule an travel grant hearing. Travel grant hearings are held every Tuesday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. in the Student Union, Room 212Z.

*IMPORTANT NOTE RE TRAVEL: When awarded a travel grant, student organizations must pay for all travel expenses ahead of time and are then reimbursed after the travel to individual students' accounts.

PUBLICATION GRANT (CLICK HERE FOR APPLICATION)
*Be sure to review corresponding section of the FPA above before applying.  Student organizations registered as media groups, and whose primary mission is printing or other types of publishing, can apply for this grant. The maximum award is $1,000 per grant. A hearing before the Ways and Means Committee of the Student Government Association is required.

After you have completed your publication grant application, please turn a hard copy in to the front desk of the Student Government and Organizations Complex on the second floor of the Student Union. (Electronic copies will not be accpeted.) Publication grants cannot exceed $1,000.00. Publication grant applications must be turned in by Friday by Noon in order to be considered for an event grant hearing the following week.

When you turn in the application, you will have to schedule an travel grant hearing. Travel grant hearings are held every Tuesday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. in the Student Union, Room 212Z.
