STUDENT ORGANIZATION FUNDING OPTIONS

A brief description of each funding option available to student organizations is listed below with the corresponding guidelines and application.

BEFORE COMPLETING ANY GRANT APPLICATION make sure your student organization is familiar with these GUIDELINES (click on each on to access):

2009-2010 EVENT GRANT (CLICK HERE TO ACCESS APPLICATION)
*Be sure to review corresponding guidelines above before applying.  Student Organizations can apply for this grant to support the programming needs of registered groups on-campus and in the greater Charlotte metropolitan area. The maximum award is $3,000 per event and groups may receive funding for an infinite amount of events. A hearing before the Ways and Means Committee of the Student Government Association is required.

After you have completed your event grant application, please turn a hard copy in to the front desk of Student Government and Organizations Complex on the second floor of the Student Union. (Electronic copies will not be accpeted.) Event grants cannot exceed $3,000.00. Event grant applications must be turned in by Friday by 5:00pm in order to be considered for an event grant hearing the following week.

When you turn in the application, you will have to schedule an event grant hearing. Event grant hearings are held every Tuesday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. in the Student Union, Room 212Z.

2009-2010 TRAVEL GRANT (CLICK HERE TO ACCESS APPLICATION)
*Be sure to review corresponding guidelines above before applying. Student Organizations can apply for this grant to travel to conferences, trainings, competitions, and other off-campus events. The maximum award is $1,000 per student organization per academic year. A hearing before the Ways and Means Committee of the Student Government Association is required.

2009-2010 OPERATIONAL GRANT (CLICK HERE TO ACCESS APPLICATION)
Student Organizations can apply for this grant to fund resources necessary for the day-to-day operational needs of the group and its recruitment of new members. The award for this grant is a maximum of $400 per student organization for groups applying in the Spring for the following year, and a maximum of $200 for groups applying starting August and on. There are specific monetary limits per each funding category. No hearing is required. Groups are encouraged to file in the Spring of 2009 to have this money in their account for beginning of the 2009-2010 academic year. The process is now open again, as of August 2009, with a maximum of $200 available per group.

*For information on what to do once your organization has received an operational, event or travel grant, please CLICK HERE for the Online SAFC Workshop. (One representative from each organization must complete this online workshop if an operational, event or travel grant was approved for the group. This workshop explains how to deal with receipts, reimbursements, and other paperwork regarding actual payments.)
