Advisor Information

Advisors are critical to the success of a student organization. An active and involved advisor can help shape a student leader and the course of a student organization.

All student organizations must have an on-campus faculty/staff advisor who must have an @uncc.edu e-mail account.  We ask that you check this account regularly, as important announcements and updates will be shared with you.

Additionally, the Student Organizations Handbook is an excellent resource for advisors.  The Student Organizations Team is also here to help.  Please contact us should you have questions, need clarification, or want more information about student organization advising. 

Thank you for taking the time to invest in our students as a student organization advisor. We appreciate your efforts.

AFFILIATED ADVISORS

In addition to the on-campus faculty/staff advisor, groups may choose to also have up to two "Affiliate Advisors". Affiliated advisors usually come from the local community and are seen as an added resource for an organization. All the information and responsibilities listed above apply to affiliated advisors.

To become an affiliated advisor:

1. Dowload and complete the registration form below.

2. After the registration form is turned in, download and follow the instructions to complete the background check.

3. Complete an "Advisor Training" workshop. (See workshop schedule for dates/times.)

4. After all paperwork is complete, the SGA Administrative Assistant will help affiliate advisors with getting a UNC Charlotte ID, email account, library access, parking permit, and ability to participate in fitness and intramural activities.

*The registration process is a rolling process and open all year.

NOTE: All affiliate advisors must re-apply and complete the "Affiliate Advisor Application" each year by September 30th. The background check and workshop only need to be completed once, upon the initial application, and not each year.
